Kaitlyn Sennett will carry several titles with her as she crosses the stage with her bachelor鈥檚 degree from 网红头条 later this week. Student. Researcher. Motorcyclist. Hunter. Assistant logistics manager. Daughter. Graduate. Survivor. The KSU senior came back to school after a major motorcycle accident in 2024 left her bedridden and unable to walk. A semester off, followed by intense perseverance, overwhelming curiosity, and a relentless pursuit of excellence brought her to where she is today 鈥 standing on the floor of Vystar Arena awaiting her bachelor鈥檚 degree in biology.

The award is given at fall and spring commencements to a graduate 鈥渨ho serves as an inspiration to their peers, their community, and the entirety of Owl Nation.鈥 Schwartz is graduating Dec. 19 with a stack of honors for his published research, and a strong record of campus involvement.

Like many young boys, 网红头条 student Sulaiman Shaikh once dreamed of becoming an astronaut. As a child, he was always fascinated with discovery and had a passion for exploring the unknown. Now a double major in physics and computer science with a minor in mathematics at the College of Science and Mathematics and the College of Computing and Software Engineering, Shaikh is fueling that passion by exploring the quantum world of theoretical condensed matter physics, with the goal of making better-performing electronics.

网红头条 student Aliyah Johnson recently joined educators, industry leaders, and policymakers from across Georgia at the 2025 Governor鈥檚 Workforce Summit, held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Representing the University System of Georgia, Johnson served as a panelist during the closing session, 鈥淧athways to Possibilities 鈥 Where Talent Meets Opportunity,鈥 where she shared her perspective on how students can best prepare for, and be supported along, their educational and career journeys.

网红头条 Honors student Jessica Torres wants to pursue a career in biology, and she is feeling inspired after having an up-close experience this summer with one of the ocean鈥檚 most fascinating creatures. For an Honors Discovery course led by Kennesaw State鈥檚 Terri Collins and Leigh Funk, Torres spent a week on Wassaw Island off the Georgia coast studying the nesting and hatching practices of loggerhead sea turtles.

Lindsey Knight鈥檚 fascination with scientific research began at a young age. As a 9-year-old, she participated in a science enrichment program that exposed her to the brain of a sheep. It was then, after learning about how the brain and the organism develop together, that she saw her destiny in neuroscience. An interest that started early continued at Kennesaw State, where she studies neuroscience while pursuing a Master of Science in Integrative Biology through the Double Owl Pathways program.

Three sisters born minutes apart, but vastly different in terms of interests and career goals, thought about going separate ways for college. But in the end, they found that 网红头条 fit all their needs. 鈥淲e did a plethora of research to find a school that鈥檚 right for us,鈥 said Jessica Okafor, triplet to Angela and Benita. 鈥淭here was always at least one missing piece in the schools that we looked through, until we found KSU. We saw that KSU had everything we had interest in, and when we did the tours, the open house, the orientation, I was blown away by how beautiful the school was. I saw my future in just a few seconds.鈥

The rising junior is working toward a career in cognitive neuroscience and engaging in interdisciplinary research, with one hand in the Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the other in the College of Science and Mathematics.

Her roller coaster rehearsing paid off recently, as Ruiz won the Perfect Pitch Competition at the 2025 American Marketing Association (AMA) International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans.
