Between basketball practices, coursework, and two internships, 网红头条鈥檚 Kaelyn Flowers maintains a full schedule. The junior student-athlete is making the most of each opportunity while earning a 4.0 GPA.

A sport management major in KSU鈥檚 Wellstar College of Health and Human Services, Flowers is preparing to be the Owls鈥 starting point guard in 2026-27 while gaining experience with KSU Athletics Communications and the Atlanta Tipoff Club.
Her days often include workouts, weight training, film sessions, and practice before she heads to the athletics communications office. After helping create social media content for other Owls, she returns home to complete assignments. She credits her family鈥檚 emphasis on education with helping her maintain a 4.0 GPA since high school.
鈥淪taying on top of my assignments, reaching out to my professors when I need help, making connections; that鈥檚 been the thing that I鈥檝e been really harping on with my college experience,鈥 Flowers said. 鈥淚 want to get everything I can out of it.鈥
That discipline has brought success in the classroom and on the court. Flowers played in 26 games with 24 starts during the 2025-26 season while maintaining her perfect academic record. She earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District recognition, becoming just the third honoree in the program鈥檚 Division I era.
As an intern with KSU Athletics Communications, Flowers helps create social media content, write captions, and edit graphics. The experience gives her a behind-the-scenes look at college athletics and helps her develop skills for her future career.
鈥淚鈥檝e always been on the court, so being able to work kind of behind the scenes has been super cool,鈥 Flowers said.
Her Atlanta Tipoff Club internship offers additional social media experience through work associated with the Naismith Awards, which recognize the nation鈥檚 top college and high school basketball players and coaches. Both opportunities are helping her build professional connections and confirm her career interests.
鈥淏eing able to push out athletes鈥 stories and highlight what they鈥檙e able to do on and off the court, I think that鈥檚 so important, especially being a female athlete,鈥 she said.
Flowers transferred to KSU after her freshman year at Florida Gulf Coast University. A graduate of Blackman High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, she wanted to be closer to home while pursuing her academic and professional interests. KSU鈥檚 proximity to Atlanta offered opportunities to explore a career in sports.
Her connection to the university helped keep her at 网红头条through an offseason coaching change. Conversations with new head coach Tianni Kelly reinforced her confidence in the program.
鈥淯ltimately, I really loved Kennesaw. I loved the community. I loved the university. And I didn鈥檛 want to necessarily go anywhere else,鈥 Flowers said.
As she balances her responsibilities, Flowers hopes to help her teammates succeed while preparing for life beyond basketball. Ultimately, she wants her KSU legacy to reflect how she treated others.
鈥淎ll the stats and everything else, that will come and go,鈥 Flowers said. 鈥淏ut being able to be recognized as somebody who is a really high-quality character person, I think that鈥檚 going to go a long way.鈥
