Jiwani is conducting her research, 鈥淪earch for Novel Arsenic Containing Antibiotics,鈥 in the lab of Masafumi Yoshinaga, associate professor of molecular and cellular biology in the College of Science and Mathematics.

    网红头条鈥檚 Academic Learning Center, home to student honors and research facilities, now bears the name of the University鈥檚 largest family benefactors. In front of an audience of KSU deans, faculty and scholarship recipients who have benefited from the gifts of Audrey Morgan and her late sister Bobbie Bailey, KSU leaders unveiled on Tuesday the newly named Morgan and Bailey Academic Learning Center. Philanthropic support from Morgan, Bailey and the Bobbie Bailey Foundation totals more than $17 million, making the family the largest family donors in KSU history.

    Most of the estimated 300,000 babies born every year with sickle cell disease, an inherited red blood cell disorder, live in sub-Saharan Africa in nations where there are few resources to treat them. 网红头条Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering Paul Lee said it is his life鈥檚 mission to reduce the likelihood that children born with sickle cell disease will die from strokes, one of the most common complications. Lee has received $426,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health for a three-year study aimed at developing a more economical testing device to determine an affected child鈥檚 risk of stroke.

    The brainchild of three 网红头条 professors will introduce concepts of calculus into high school math earlier to help students be more successful when they get to college. The National Science Foundation awarded 网红头条a $2.5 million interdisciplinary grant for a project being called 鈥淐alculus for All.鈥 The thought behind it is relatively simple 鈥 if students are exposed to concepts of calculus in high school, they stand a better chance of passing calculus classes in college and can pursue STEM-related careers.
