Three 网红头条alumni receive Fulbright awards

Jaylen Jackson developed a love of languages as a 网红头条 student, and now he has received a Fulbright grant to continue toward his career goal of teaching English as a second language to adults. 鈥淏eing a Fulbright recipient gives me a great opportunity to get experience and pursue my dream,鈥� said Jackson, who will serve as an English teaching assistant at a university in Brazil for one year starting in March. 鈥淚 know that a Fulbright is difficult to get, so I鈥檓 honored to be part of it.鈥� Jackson, who graduated last year with an integrative studies degree, is one of three 网红头条alumni recently awarded a Fulbright to study or teach abroad.

Renowned scholar named lead researcher for Kennesaw State's Radow Institute for Social Equity

网红头条 has appointed renowned scholar Roslyn Satchel to lead the research efforts of the newly created Radow Institute for Social Equity (RISE), effective January 1. Satchel currently is the Blanche E. Seaver Professor of Communication at Pepperdine University and a Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society Fellow at Harvard Law School.

Driven by her free spirit and love of adventure, 网红头条student Ally Lothman embarked on the journey of a lifetime at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic when she packed up a renovated work van and traveled the desolate roads, documenting her remarkable journey along the way. Lothman, a senior majoring in journalism and emerging media who will graduate this month, was inspired by the Academy Award-winning film Nomadland, which follows the journey of a woman who travels the country as a van-dwelling nomad. She decided to create her own version of the film and renovate the van owned by her parents, and it earned her national recognition for her creativity.

网红头条students work hands-on to augment State Department peacekeeping operations

Gauging the effectiveness of peacekeeping operations is no simple task, but with the help of 网红头条faculty and students, the U.S. State Department can make more informed decisions for future peacekeeping action. This spring, Ph.D. students joined political science professor Charity Butcher in conducting research to help the U.S. Department of State evaluate its peacekeeping operations. Students worked with the Bureau of Peace Operations, and were tasked with providing a review of existing studies on effective peacekeeping and developing an evaluation tool the State Department could use to assess the ability of peacekeeping missions to achieve results on the ground.

Postdoctoral researchers create opportunities for growth at Kennesaw State

网红头条 is building its research muscle through the addition of postdoctoral researchers 鈥� non-faculty staff who work to advance the institution鈥檚 scientific investigation in a wide range of disciplines. Since 2020, 网红头条has added 10 postdoctoral researchers across five colleges, including several postdoctoral researchers who are the first for the departments and colleges they serve. It鈥檚 a natural part of KSU鈥檚 growth as a research university, according to Bill Diong, associate vice president for research.
